What Are The Benefits Of BA Executive Club?

If you are new to point collecting or flying with British Airways you may be wondering what are the benefits of BA executive club? Is it worthwhile joining the club? In short, the answer is probably yes, but let’s take a look at the benefits you get from joining so you can decide if it’s worthwhile for yourself!

What are the benefits of BA Executive Club?

The Executive Club is BA’s frequent flyer program, by joining you can collect Avios & Tier points on the flights you make with British Airways. It’s completely free to join and you can do so here – https://www.britishairways.com/. Once you’ve signed up you are able to start collecting Avios from British Airways flights & other oneworld partner flights. You will also be able to link your account to your American Express Membership Reward account. Once you’ve done this you can transfer your Membership Reward points into Avios.

As we alluded to above, flying isn’t the only way to earn Avios points. As well as transferring membership reward points from an American Express card (or earning on an Avios card) you can also earn Avios with the BA eStore, by converting Nectar Points or through TopCashback (to name a few options!) Perhaps more importantly once you’re a member and have earned enough Avios you can book a reward flight or part-pay with Avios on a cash booking to reduce the cost. You can even upgrade your travel class e.g. from Economy – Business Class for European flights or Premium Economy – Business Class for International flights.

BA Executive Club Tiers

There are four different membership tiers to the Executive Club, each tier comes with different benefits including increased Avios earning, lounge access & free seat selection, etc. You can read more about each tier and the benefits of each one here – https://pointsuncovered.com/british-airways/what-ba-executive-club-tiers-are-there/

When you join you will start with ‘blue’ membership which in truth has few benefits. You will have a higher priority than non-members can earn & spend Avios. Once you start flying with British Airways you will collect tier points which could lead you to Bronze, Silver or Gold status. The program’s sweet spot tends to be Silver status. This is because you’ll get access to Business Class check-in & lounges and priority boarding when flying economy. You will also get free seat reservation when you book, which can save a ton!.

Not interested in using your Avios for flying?

You don’t need to use your Avios for flights! With British Airway’s new partnership with Sainsbury’s you can transfer your Avios into Nectar points. You get 400 Nectar Points per 250 Avios which equates to you getting 0.8p per Avios. You can read more about the partnership here – https://pointsuncovered.com/nectar/you-can-now-earn-avios-with-sainsburys/

There are other things you can spend your Avios on, including seat reservations, wine, and hotels. The value of this is often 0.5p per Avios or lower so it doesn’t make much sense to do so.

Conclusion

As it’s free to join there is absolutely nothing to lose by joining BA’s Executive Club! By joining you have an account where you can collect & spend Avios as well as potentially earning other benefits. If you want to join the club you can do so here – https://www.britishairways.com/
