The good news is that any alcohol you buy is genuinely free. There are no fees, surcharges or postage to pay! The price you see is what you will pay and you can choose to pay all Avios or part pay cash/Avios.
The bad news?
Well, it’s not going to be the ‘best’ use of your Avios points. Remember for flights it’s reasonably easy to get 1p+ value per point.
For example, the Laurent-Perrier Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature costs 13,300 Avios points here. Directly with Laithwaites it will cost you £60 which means you are getting around 0.45p per an Avios point.
A second example, the Monkey Shoulder Whisky costs 6,900 Avios points here. Directly with Laithwaites it will cost you £26.89 (0.39p a point) or if you went to Amazon just £22 (0.32p a point.)
Remember to shop around to compare the value you are getting on each product before purchasing! Products that you can find on Amazon/in the supermarket are likely to return a poor pence per point value.
There are a couple of instances where I think this may be a good idea…
1) If you are sitting on a huge chunk of Avios points & struggle to spend them.
2) If you aren’t a fan of using British Airways or rarely use them and want to use points that would otherwise go to waste.
Are you tempted to use Avios points to buy wine or prosecco for the summer BBQ?
