What BA Executive Club Tiers Are There?

In this post, I want to take a look at the different BA Executive Club Tiers, the benefits of each tier and how you reach each tier. You may find the added benefits of reaching a higher tier very worthwhile. Particularly if you frequently fly British Airways or one of its partners.

What is the BA Executive Club?

The BA Executive Club is British Airways’ frequent flyer membership program. The program allows you to collect and redeem Avios on flights among other things. Perhaps less well known or understood is that the Executive Club also allows you to collect Tier Points. These are awarded in addition to Avios on eligible cash flights. Unlike Avios, they can’t be spent on flights and expire on your membership anniversary. They are instead used to determine your elite level within the Executive Club. Each higher tier you reach comes with extra benefits.

What are the BA Executive Club Tiers?

Blue

Blue is the base-level tier you obtain when joining the BA Executive Club, you don’t need any annual flights to retain the status. Understandably as you don’t need to do anything other than join to get Blue status the benefits are very few! Mainly the benefit to collect Avios, Tier Points & saving your seat preferences etc.

Bronze

Bronze is the first level of the ‘elite’ statuses. To reach Bronze status you need 300 tier points. As a Bronze member, you will earn a larger amount of Avios per flight, get free seat selection 7 days from flying and have access to Business Class check-in desks & priority boarding on top of the Blue benefits.

Silver

Silver is the mid-tier of the ‘elite’ statuses. To reach Silver status you need 600 tier points. As a Silver member on top of the Bronze benefits, you will earn an even larger amount of Avios per flight and have access to Business Class lounges & free additional checked luggage. You are also able to choose your seats for free at the time of booking.

Gold

Gold is the top-tier of the ‘elite’ statuses. To reach Gold status you need 1500 tier points. As a Gold member on top of the Silver benefits, you will earn an even larger amount of Avios per flight and have access to First Class lounges & the ability to make Gold Priority Rewards (these force open Avios availability on flights 30 days or more from flying for double the Avios.) You are also able to choose your seats for free at the time of booking.

Gold status is the highest attainable status within the BA Executive Club though it’s a little more complex than the other statuses with extra benefits for hitting even more tier points and Gold Guest List which is an even more elite status with Gold status!
