Why Can’t I Convert Avios to Nectar Online?
If you’ve been trying to convert Avios to Nectar points recently you’ve probably come across the Avios to Nectar conversion unavailable message. Why is that? And can you still convert your Avios to Nectar points? Read on to find out!
Why can’t I convert Avios to Nectar at the moment?
Online conversions from Avios to Nectar have been disabled after reports of users Avios accounts being linked to scammers Nectars Account and emptied before anyone had a chance to stop it. A scammer could make the maximum transfer and have the Nectar points available to spend instantly in any Nectar partners… not ideal! They are now working to introduce two-factor authentication to conversions which will hopefully stop this sort of activity.
Why can I still convert Nectar to Avios online then?
Basically, Avios points aren’t so valuable to scammers! Nectar points can be instantly spent for products in Argos, Sainsburys & eBay etc. like cash. The points can disappear almost instantly with no window to reverse the transaction. When booking with Avios you are normally making a booking for a flight in the future which has a much larger window to reverse or cancel the transaction. How can I convert Avios to Nectar points now?
Don’t worry you can still convert Avios to Nectar points but unfortunately, you will need to ring up. You will need to ring 0344 49 333 03 between 9 am – 5 pm (Monday to Friday.) What is slightly surprising is that there are no weekends and only limited hours, which isn’t great for those working! Conclusion
Thankfully, the disabling of online Avios to Nectar conversions should only be a temporary solution. When two-factor authentication has been added to transfers online conversions should be enabled again. Whilst annoying in the meanwhile it’s much better than getting your account emptied before you even realise that it’s happened!

Online transfers don’t work and the phone number refers you back to the website. Has anyone had any better look converting Avios to Nectar recently?
