Hilton Transfer Bonus

The standard Hilton Honor transfer rate is 1 Membership reward point for 2 Hilton Honor points. With this offer, it’s boosted to 1 Membership reward point for 2.6 Hilton Honor points until the 3rd of November.

This isn’t as generous as the previous transfer bonus offer that ran in 2019 but it is marginally better than the one run in 2020.

Is it worth transferring into Hilton points to take advantage of the Hilton Transfer Bonus?

The typical value you will see of Hilton Honor points is 0.33p per point. Typically I, however, won’t transfer or use them unless I can secure 0.5p per point. It’s all a numbers game… If you are interested in working out your own value of a Hilton point see our guide here – https://pointsuncovered.com/hilton/hilton-points-value/

With the promotion, if you take the standard valuation of 0.33p you are getting 0.858p of value per membership reward point. If you secure 0.5p per point you would be getting 1.3p value per membership reward point. To put that into context most people value a membership reward point at 1p due to the 1:1 transfer rate into Avios.

Work out the maths on where and when you want to stay. Divide the cash rate by the number of points your booking would cost. Use this figure to decide if transferring your points to Hilton is a good idea with this bonus. It may well be if cash rates are particularly high or by staying 5 nights on points with Hilton so your 5th night is free.

To see where you could go for the points you are thinking of transferring check out Hilton’s Points Explorer, don’t forget to compare to the cash rate!

Conclusion

Generally, I try to keep my points as Membership Reward points until I have a usage in mind. This is to protect against any potential devaluation of the schemes you can transfer into. With this latest offer, I have decided to move approx 35,000 Membership Reward points over for 91,000 Hilton Honor points rather than the usual 70,000. As I quite frequently redeem points to stay in Hilton Hotels. The points will be enough to secure a night in most major cities around the world. Has the Hilton transfer bonus encouraged you to transfer any points to Hilton Honors?
