If you have an American Express card that earns Membership Rewards you may have recently received an email mentioning a promotion where there is a 50% bonus on Amex to Hilton Honors transfers. It’s possible this offer is targeted so if you don’t have the email you may not be eligible but it’s always worth asking on live chat!
The standard Hilton Honor transfer rate is 1 Membership reward point for 2 Hilton Honor points. With this offer it’s boosted to 1 Membership reward point for 3 Hilton Honor points until the 31st October.
The bonus can take up to 8 weeks to post after your transfer. So don’t expect them to be available for an immediate redemption. I haven’t received any of bonus points from my Hilton Honors transfers as of yet.
Is the 50% Bonus On Amex To Hilton Honors Transfers good value?
The typical value you will see of Hilton Honor points is 0.33p per point. Typically I however won’t transfer or use them unless I can secure 0.5p per point. With the promotion you are getting 1p of value per membership reward point. If you value them at 0.33p or 1.5p of value if you value them at 0.5p. You can get either better value then this if cash rates are particularly high or by staying 5 nights on points with Hilton so your 5th night is free. With this promotion I have decided it’s worthwhile me transferring points across to Hilton Honors. To see where you could go for the points you are thinking of transferring check out Hilton’s Points Explorer, don’t forget to compare to the cash rate!
Generally I don’t transfer points to Hilton as I find better value using them elsewhere. With this latest offer however I have decided to move aprox 36,000 Membership Reward points over for 108,000 Hilton Honor points rather than the usual 72,000. That will be enough to secure 2 nights in most major cities around the world. Has the boosted offer encouraged you to transfer any points to Hilton Honors?
