Am I Eligible For An Avios Barclaycard Sign-Up Bonus?

What Are The Avios Barclaycard Sign-Up Bonus Eligibility Requirements?

If you currently hold or have held another Barclaycard product within the past 6 months you won’t be eligible to apply for an Avios Barclaycard. This means you wouldn’t be able to get the sign-up bonus. If you currently hold a Barclaycard you may be able to switch to an Avios earning credit card with a smaller sign-up bonus. If you have previously held an Avios earning Barclaycard there has to be a 24-month gap between you holding an Avios earning Barclaycard before you are eligible to get another sign-up bonus. See 3.2 of Barclaycards Avios T&Cs

3.2 We’ll only apply one Avios Welcome Bonus in relation to your card to your BAEC account during the lifetime of your card account. If you close your card account after you receive your Avios Welcome Bonus and then open another Barclaycard Avios card account within 2 years after you closed the original account, you will not be eligible for another Avios Welcome Bonus.

If you have another Avios earning card that isn’t from Barclaycard or you have Barclays Premier this DOES NOT affect your eligibility for a sign-up bonus from the Avios Barclaycard.

What are the current Avios Barclaycard sign-up bonuses?

Until the 18th of July, the sign-up bonuses on both the Barclaycard Avios & Barclaycard Avios Plus have been doubled! The normal bonuses of 5,000 and 25,000 are now 10,000 and 50,000. This means it’s a great time to apply if you’re after some extra Avios!

Conclusion

If you currently hold an American Express card and are not eligible for a sign-up bonus from them the Avios Barclaycards might provide a much-needed boost of Avios to your account. However, don’t forget you will need to leave 24 months after closing your Avios earning Barclaycard before you’re eligible for another sign-up bonus!
