Our Heathrow Amex Centurion Lounge Review (Terminal 3)

As most of our flights depart from Heathrow T5 we were excited when we saw our flight was departing from Heathrow T3 as this would give us a chance to (finally) check out the Amex Centurion Lounge. The lounge opened late last year and after hearing good feedback about it we were excited to check it out ourselves. Without further ado here is our Heathrow Amex Centurion Lounge Review in Terminal 3…

Where do I find the Heathrow Amex Centurion Lounge?

After you pass through security at Heathrow T3 turn right and head to the far corner. Here there is a lift, take this one floor up and the Centurion Lounge is directly in front of you!

What are the access rules for the Heathrow Amex Centurion Lounge?

Remember these rules are for UK Amex cardholders. US cardholders have to pay a $50 USD fee for each guest (or $30 for children aged 2 through 17) unless they’ve made $75,000 in eligible purchases on their card.

  • Amex Platinum card members can bring up to 2 guests
  • Amex Centurion card members can bring up to 2 guests, or the entire immediate family (spouse and children)
  • You are allowed entry from three hours prior to your flight departure

The last point is worth bearing in mind… You won’t be allowed entrance until 3 hours before your flight departure, so if you are doing a lounge tour in Heathrow T3… leave the Centurion lounge till near the end!

The Space

As you enter the space immediately on the left is a business centre with small cabins suitable for phone calls or video conferencing. As you move further into the space you’ll notice the bar, dining area and buffet.

There is also an afternoon tea set on the left-hand side.

At the back of the space on the left is a semi-private area with sofas, the rest of this space is taken up by more seating with a mixture of tables/chairs and sofas. Around the edge of the space are ‘one-person’ booths which are great for solo travellers. Down the corridors at the end of the space are the toilets.

Sorry, there aren’t many pictures as it was quite busy!

Food/Drink

Food was offered in a buffet style with various small plates of food you can help yourself to. There was a range of dishes including chicken, lamb, and vegetarian options. Upon request, some dishes could be made gluten-free which were served from the kitchen directly to me. The lamb, chicken & chocolate & oil mousse were particularly delicious… a real step above ‘normal’ lounge offerings.

There are machines for tea/coffee etc and a bar if you fancy something a little stronger… including a cocktail menu.

Conclusion

The Heathrow Amex Centurion Lounge is a fantastic option especially if you don’t have access to the Cathay Pacific lounge or any other Business Class lounge. The food, drink, and ambiance are miles above that of the British Airways Lounges! If you have a Platinum/Centurion card check it out the next time you are in Heathrow T3!
