Do BA Release More Reward Flights?

Have you ever gone to book your preferred flights at midnight at T-355 when flights are loaded but by the time you manage to check out the seats you want are already gone? The chances are if you’ve ever tried booking popular routes such as the Maldives you’ve experienced this issue. If so do BA release more reward flights after the initial loading of the flight? Read on to find out!

Do BA Release More Reward Seats?

BA does often release more reward seats after the initial loading BUT this isn’t guaranteed. British Airways currently guarantee the following reward seats on EVERY flight…

  • Euro Traveller economy: 8
  • Club Europe business class: 4
  • World Traveller economy: 8
  • World Traveller Plus premium economy: 2
  • Club World/Club Suite business class: 4

That means if your flight has the cabin those seats are GUARANTEED to be made available at T-355.

How do I check if BA releases more reward seats?

There is no guaranteed set time or date if they do release any so it would be a case of regularly checking either on the BA website OR by using a service such as SeatSpy or Reward Flight Finder. These services allow you to set alerts for seats coming available on your preferred route/dates/booking class. Once/if a seat comes available you receive an alert by your chosen method and hopefully then you can secure your flights!

How do people grab seats so fast at T-355?

The fastest way to secure your seats at T-355 is by phoning the call centre to make a booking. This is because agents can put a hold on a ticket whilst you complete payment. Whilst the UK office is closed you can ring the US office just before midnight UK time so your through in time for midnight (we use our free Skype minutes from an Office 365 subscription.) If you purchase online the ticket isn’t held and only once you’ve made payment is the ticket yours.

We’ve written a small guide to help you get better at booking at T-355 following an example where we secured business class Avios seats to the Maldives. Check it out here – https://pointsuncovered.com/avios/booking-flights-to-the-maldives-with-avios/
