It Appears NEW Platinum Card Holders Are Getting The £200 Free Dining Credit

Early this month we covered how American Express launched a £200 free dining credit for Platinum Cardholders. This credit is valid at eligible locations and you will receive up to a £200 rebate on your spending. This is the MAXIMUM rebate you can have across all restaurants combined. This offer runs until 31st December 2021.

So are new Platinum Card Holders getting the £200 Free Dining Credit?

What we didn’t know at the time is whether this offer would apply to NEW cardholders. The previous 100% offers at Waitrose etc. weren’t so we assumed this wouldn’t be too. BUT it has been reported new applicants after the 1st September are receiving the offer when Amex offers start appearing on their cards… If it doesn’t appear you could also try contacting Amex to see if they add it (there has been reported success of this too) but…

Let’s be perfectly clear, this is not an advertised benefit of taking out The Platinum Card. And as such, can’t be guaranteed and there is no recourse if you take out the card and don’t get the offer.

Conclusion

If you were on the fence about the Platinum Card this might just tip the scales in favour of getting the card for you BUT remember, this is not an advertised benefit, so it’s not guaranteed! We are just feeding back from online reports of success!
