Hilton Status Extended To Early 2023

Hilton has just announced in an email to members that they are going to be extending elite status until 31 March 2023. This applies to ALL elite members no matter your status level and even applies to those who would of lost status in 2020. With your Hilton status extended again it will be interesting to see if any other hotel chains announce any further extensions…

Hilton Status Extended

Whatever status you have with Hilton at the moment you will now keep that until 31 March 2023.

Points Expiration Extended

All points expiry has now been paused until 31st December 2022. To be honest this isn’t a great deal as it’s very easy to keep your points from expiring. You can read some of the ways to stop them expiring here – https://pointsuncovered.com/hilton/do-hilton-points-expire/

Status Requirements Reduced

The status requirements are again reduced for 2022 albeit by 30% rather than 2021’s 50%. This means to gain or renew status in 2022 you’d need…

  • Silver – 7 nights, 3 stays or 17,500 base points
  • Gold – 28 nights, 14 stays or 52,500 base points
  • Diamond – 42 nights, 21 stays or 84,000 base points

Making it even easier to regain status your elite nights from 2021 will be rolled over to 2022 allowing you to (hopefully) get status easier! This does not include any nights that were already rolled over from 2020 to 2021.

The milestones have also been tweaked and are as follows…

  • 10,000 bonus Hilton Honors points at 30 nights
  • 10,000 bonus points fo every additional 10 nights after that
  • One-time 30,000 points bonus at 60 nights
  • At 40 nights gift Gold status to a friend, can be upgraded to Diamond status at 70 nights.

Conclusion

It’s great to see Hilton being proactive and extending status with many people still not travelling to anywhere near the levels they were pre-pandemic. Rolling 2021 nights over is also a very smart move as it will encourage people to stay at Hilton for the rest of the year rather than other chains. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, the other big chains respond with!
