Looking for free hotel elite status? Leading Hotels of the World is currently offering free membership of the Leaders Club for one year, saving you the usual $175 (approx £130) annual fee. As you might guess the benefits won’t be life-changing but if you have an upcoming stay you may find it useful to bag some free hotel elite status!

What/Who Are Leading Hotels of the World?

The website describes the group as “a collection of authentic and uncommon luxury hotels. Comprised of more than 400 hotels in over 80 countries, our hotels embody the very essence of their destinations.”

In plain English? It’s a group of independent hotels that have joined Leading Hotels of the World to have access to their client base and offering a paid loyalty scheme where they can offer a range of exclusive benefits. It makes much more sense to have a scheme over multiple hotels than just one right?

What benefits does my free hotel elite status have?

You will be given the base level membership (the other level requires $5,000 room spend) which comes with the following benefits…

Access to member rates (up to 20% cheaper)
One upgrade voucher for a guaranteed one-category upgrade (unlocked after your first paid stay)
Upgrade priority at arrival
Daily continental breakfast for two
Early check-in and late check-out considerations
Complimentary WiFi

Similar to most hotel loyalty schemes you will also earn points on your stays, you earn 1 point per $1 spent on up to 3 rooms. The free hotel elite status also comes with 500 points BUT with reward nights starting at 4,000 points you’d need to spend an another $3,500 to get one.

Is it worth signing up?

For free, we would say yes BUT only if the hotels in the group are ones you’d stay at! There is no point joining if you only stay at budget hotel chains. Plus you’re likely to fill your inbox with irrelevant emails!

Compare the benefits/pricing you get compared to other similar hotels, if you’re already a Hilton Gold member you already get free breakfast at all Hiltons & upgrade opportunities so is getting the same benefits with LHW enough to sway you? If you hold no Elite status with hotel brands and stay in up-market properties your outlook may be different!
