If you normally search around for the best deal on your flights you may find yourself on a third party website rather than British Airways. But does booking with a third party site come with the same benefits? Will you earn Avios and Tier Points on your booking? Read on to find out!

Will I Earn Avios or Tier Points Booking Elsewhere?

You’ll be pleased to know that the Avios/Tier Points rewarded are based on the ticket type you book rather than where you book! It doesn’t matter if you book via Expedia, Opodo, British Airways… or anywhere else, if the ticket type is the same so will be the Avios/Tier Points awarded for your flight!

To make sure you get your Avios/Tier Points you must make sure to add your Executive Club number to your booking. You can typically do this when making the booking and it asks for your ‘frequent flyer number’ on similar. If not when you get your booking confirmation through you should be able to add your details. Simple login to the Manage My Booking section on the British Airways website.

If you forgot then don’t worry! As long as you were an executive club member at the time of booking you can backdate your claim up to 6 months for Avios/Tier Points from flights. Whilst you may find a better deal booking with a third-party website your contract is with that third-party site. That means any problems BA will direct you back to the third-party! These often sites often aren’t so easy to deal with when there’s a problem, as many have found out chasing refunds due to COVID. Bear that in mind when booking!
