BA Bronze Status
British Airways

Get the Equivalent of BA Bronze Status for £38 Using Your Hotel Elite Status!

Did you know you can pick up the equivalent of BA Bronze Status for just £38? While Bronze is the entry-level tier of British Airways’ elite membership, it still offers valuable perks like free seat selection 7 days before your flight, business class check-in, and priority boarding. With BA shifting to a spend-based tier point system in April—requiring £3,500 in BA spend (excluding taxes and fees) to qualify—this affordable shortcut is a great opportunity to enjoy elite benefits without the hefty price tag.

Is BA Bronze Status worth it?

Despite BA Bronze status being the lowest rung of the ladder (if you exclude Blue status which everyone gets just by joining) it actually does come with a few useful benefits if you fly BA…

  1. Free seat selection 7 days before your flight. Typically the vast majority of BA fliers e.g. Blue members or those without membership can only choose there seats 24 hours before the flight.
  2. Check-in using BA’s business class desks.
  3. Priority boarding (group 3). Useful if flying economy and looking to secure hand luggage space onboard, also it means you’re less likely to have to check your hand-luggage on busy flights.

Unfortunately there is no lounge access until silver status.

How can I get BA Bronze Status for £38?

First of all you need to have a mid-tier or above hotel status (if you have the Amex Platinum card you have this covered!) Here are your options…

HotelStatus needed
AccorSilver, Gold, Diamond or Platinum
GHAGold, Platinum or Titanium
HiltonSilver, Diamond or Gold
HyattSilver, Gold or Diamond
IHGSilver Elite or above
Langham HotelsSapphire or above
MarriotGold Elite or above
RadissonPremium or VIP
WyndhamGold, Platinum or Diamond
  1. Open a ‘Royal account‘ with Oneworld airline Royal Jordanian (their equivalent of the British Airways Club.) It’s FREE, quick and easy!
  2. Visit the status match website and fill in the required details.
  3. Choose the option to status match from your hotel status and choose the hotel chain you have status with. It will then ask you to fill in your membership details. (for example, if you have an Amex Platinum card you can use your Hilton Gold membership.)
  4. The last step is to upload proof (we sent a screenshot of the status screen in the app), agree to the T&Cs and then submit!

As part of the status match process you will need to pay $49 (£38). If unsuccessful this is refunded.

The status match will last for twelve months from approval. Approval seems to be very quick too… In less than 24 hours I received my status ready to use!

Don’t forget it’s not just on BA you’ll receive benefits…

Having oneworld Ruby status means you can get perks on all oneworld alliance airlines too, like AA and Qatar. Across all oneworld alliance airlines you will get…

  • Access to Business Class priority check-in
  • Access to preferred or pre-reserved seating
  • Priority on waitlists and when on standby

However on certain Airlines you will also get additional benefits, for example AA offers a free checked bag in addition to advanced seat selection for oneworld Ruby members.

How do I get the benefits of the RJ status on BA/other airlines?

To get your status benefits e.g. free seat selection you will need to add your RJ membership number to your booking. To do this you can either message BA on X (Twitter)/call BA and ask them to add your RJ membership number to your booking or (the easier way) do it yourself. To do it yourself you will need to visit the Royal Air Maroc website. Click ‘Manage my booking’ and enter your surname and booking number. On the booking page that loads then change the FF number to your RJ one (note that it defaults to RAM prefix so that needs to be changed to RJ).

If you want to collect Avios/Tier points with BA you will need to change your FF number back to your BA one before departure (you can do this at the check-in desk at the airport.)

Conclusion

If you’re looking for an affordable and hassle-free way to enjoy BA Bronze status for 12 months, this offer is hard to beat. With perks like free seat selection, priority boarding, and business class check-in, you can easily recoup the £38 through the value of seat selection alone on just a few flights.
