British Airways Future Travel Vouchers Extension

British Airways has recently extended the Future Travel Vouchers /e-voucher scheme for those who have accepted vouchers by cancelling their trip due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As well as extending previously issued vouchers the scheme has now also been extended to include people booking from now until 30 April 2022.

Future Travel Vouchers/e-vouchers – What’s happening?

If you received a Future Travel Voucher/e-voucher when you cancelled your flight or your flight was cancelled you would previously have the expiration date of 30 April 2022. Now British Airways have announced they are extending all previous and future vouchers until 30 April 2023.

Remember if your flight was cancelled you are entitled to a CASH refund you don’t need to accept the voucher. You must RING BA to get a CASH refund.

What’s happening with future bookings & vouchers?

If you have a booking for any dates up to 30 April 2022 you can claim a voucher for the value of your booking. It doesn’t matter when the booking was made, you can make a booking today and later claim a voucher as long as the booking is no later than 30 April 2022. As above this voucher will be valid until 30 April 2023.

If you want to claim a voucher for your booking you can do so on the British Airways website. This voucher can be used as full or part payment for travel 30 April 2023.

If you don’t want a voucher and already know where and when you want to travel, you can change your journey date or destination in the Manage My Booking section of the BA website.

You can change your booking as many times as you like without any fees BUT you will need to pay any difference in fare(s).

Conclusion

The extension of the vouchers is a good thing for customers however it does signify the belief that long-haul travel won’t be returning at any serious level until much later on than originally thought. The ability to redeem any future bookings up to 30 April 2022 for a future voucher is handy for those optimistic travel may return sooner but want the ability to move their booking if the worst happens!
