Boost the Avios you’ve collected in 2024 up to 400%

British Airways launched the ability to boost your Avios back in 2023 alongside Avios subscriptions. It is actually offers quite reasonable value allowing you to boost any of the Avios that you’ve earned in the last 30 days up to 300% from as little as 0.92p per Avios.

Normally you can only boost up to 30 days worth of Avios that you’ve earned but for a limited time (until midnight Monday 3rd February) you can boost your entire Avios earnings for 2024 up to 400%

Should I boost my Avios?

We typically value Avios at 1p (see how to value your Avios here) it is easy to get more than this (and we often do) but 1p works well as a standard value that we wouldn’t go below. So if you are valuing your Avios at 1p you will obviously want to be paying less than this per point. If you go to the Avios Boost website and log in you’ll see how much you can boost and the price offered. Below is ours.

To work out how much you are paying divide the cost by the amount of Avios you get. So from our example above

546.34 / 56,910 = 0.00960007029 (0.96p a point)
1,069.91 / 113,820 = 0.00940001757 (0.94p a point)
1,570 / 170,730 = 0.00919580624 (0.92p a point)
2,094.29 / 227,640 = 0.00920000879 (0.92p a point)

As you can see in all instances we would be paying under 1p a point and for us the best value is at the top end with the highest amounts costing roughly 0.92p a point.

Is it a no brainer at this price? Absolutely not. But if you are needing Avios in the short term for a redemption it is the most affordable way to purchase them with cash. Just ensure you work out the cost of your flight / compared to the cost with any purchased Avios. If you aren’t seeing 1p+ it probably isn’t worth it…

Conclusion

If you have a trip in mind and looking to top up your Avios now is as good time as any. Just ensure you have a purpose/reason behind your purchase in the short term rather than speculatively purchasing. The value of your Avios won’t rise but could potentially go down if BA decide to make changes to the scheme.
