No More Avios From Tesco!

Unfortunately, British Airways partnership with Tesco Clubcard will be ending on 18 January 2021. After this date, you will no longer be able to earn Avios from Tesco by converting Clubcard points into Avios.

When is the last time I can get Avios From Tesco?

I convert my Tesco Clubcard Points manually

If you convert your Clubcard points manually you can continue you do so online via the Tesco website up to and including the 18 January 2021.

I auto-convert my Tesco Clubcard Points

If you have set up auto-convert your Clubcard points will continue to be converted into Avios up until and including the November statement. The cut-off date for the November statement is 22 October 2020. If you have points you’ve earnt after this you can do manual conversions of your Tesco Clubcard points to Avios online via the Tesco website up to and including the 18 January 2021.

Is anything changing to converting Clubcard Points into Virgin Miles?

No, nothing that we are aware of. As the decision to withdraw was made by British Airways rather than Tesco it seems unlikely that Tesco would want to get rid of Virgin Atlantic (which is the only frequent flyer scheme left connected to Tesco.)

Now there is no more Avios from Tesco… what are my other options?

If you want to earn Avios points on your daily spend the 2 main remaining options are…

  1. Use the British Airways Avios eStore to make your purchase. This works in a similar way to cashback websites but you get Avios instead of cash.
  2. Go through Topcashback to make your purchase and then convert your cashback into Avios points.

Conclusion

Losing British Airways from Tesco is a great shame as it was a great opportunity to double up on earning Avios by using a Clubcard and an Amex card on your shopping.

However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see British Airways partner up with another supermarket (Sainsburys/Waitrose) in the future. This is because their customers seem more suited to the British Airways ideal customer over Tescos.

Are you going to miss getting Avios from Tescos?
