Got A Gold Business Amex? £100 Off BA Flights & Points Value Against Purchases Increased

If you have a Gold Business Amex there are two new offers we want to draw your attention to. One of these you might like to advantage of and one you are best off skipping! If you’re a regular reader we’re sure you’ll be able to guess which one is great and which one isn’t…

£100 Off BA Flights With The Gold Business Amex

You can get a £100 statement credit when you make a single, eligible transaction of £500+ on flights from the UK with British Airways by 30/6/2022. Check under the offers section in the app/your online account and save it to your card. If you have an upcoming cash booking or long-haul Avios booking (particularly with the rise in ‘taxes & fees’) you might like to take advantage by saving the offer. This offer is valid once per Card for the first 4,000 Cardmembers to save.

Remember you can still use your 2-4-1 voucher and pay with the Gold Business Amex for £100 off the ‘taxes & fees’. Despite what BA/Amex says you can use any Amex to pay the ‘taxes & fees’, it doesn’t need to be a BA Amex.

Points Value Against Purchases Increased With The Gold Business Amex

American Express has, until the 10th of June, increased the value you get when redeeming your membership reward points against purchases. You’ll notice the increased value when clicking the ‘use points for purchases’ option. It’s nothing to get excited about however with the value increasing from 0.45p a point to 0.54p a point. When used for ‘travel’ we value membership reward points at 1p, this is just over 50% of that valuation. If you do want to redeem for none travel options your best bet would be to convert into Avios and then into Nectar. This would get 0.8p worth of value per point to spend at Sainsbury’s, Nectar, or eBay (to name a few.)

Conclusion

Remember just because you see an offer it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good value, the only time we’d consider redeeming our membership reward points against purchases is we saw a return of 0.9p a point (from the middle of the pandemic.) As that’s extremely unlikely with the world heading out of the worst of the COVID pandemic your next best bet is converting into Avios then into Nectar as mentioned earlier.
