Amex Now Email You When You Refer A Friend

Are you the sort of person to constantly check your Membership Reward/Avios/Marriott points balance to see if you’ve got any refer a friend bonus points? Well, you don’t need to anymore! American Express will now email you when you refer a friend and their application was successful.

The email

The email is pretty basic (and contains no personal data for obvious reasons!) It simply says – Thank you for referring your friend. You’ve earned 9,000 for this referral… and that’s it! The email tends to come through in the evening whereas your points are generally added around midday. So if you have the email you should already have the points!

How do I refer a friend?

You can refer a friend by either…

1. Logging into your American Express account, select the card you wish to refer from, and then click on ‘Invite Now’. This will give you a unique link that you can share with friends/family members.
   
2. Visiting the Refer a friend page on the American Express website here – https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/referral. This will give you the option to either use your card details or online services details to log in & generate a link.
