What Hotels Are Walking Distance To Stansted Airport?

If you are looking for a convenient start to your day when you have an early flight staying at the Airport is often the best option. The ability to wake up early and not need to faff around with taxis, trains, and buses is well worth it for an early flight. Depending on where your hotel is located, however, you may still need a bus or taxi to get to the airport, even if it’s close by! In this post, we want to take a look at what hotels are within walking distance to Stansted airport so you can start your Holiday with minimal faff!

So what hotels are walking distance to Stansted?

Despite the proximity of some hotels, there are only actually TWO hotels that are walking distance to Stansted AND that you can actually walk from! They are the Radisson Blu Hotel Stansted (from £74 or 30,000 Radisson Reward points) and Hampton by Hilton Stansted Airport (from £76 or 30,000 Hilton points.) We’ve actually stayed at both of these but it was long before Points Uncovered existed so you will have to make do with stock photos I’m afraid sorry!

Radisson Blu Hotel Stansted

The Radisson Blu Hotel Stansted is a 5-minute walk by covered walkways from the terminal (and perhaps ever so slightly closer than the Hilton.) The hotel has 500 rooms, pool/spa, gym & multiple dining options. If you are looking for something a bit ‘nicer’ to eat than the limited menu at the Hilton Radisson Blu is a clear winner, they also have a Wine Tower Bar which is pretty cool… The standard rooms are a little more dated than the Hilton but still comfortable, for a premium you can also book a room with a runway view. Hampton by Hilton Stansted Airport

The Hampton by Hilton Stansted Airport is a 5-minute walk by covered walkway from the terminal (approx 200 metres.) Only the Radisson Blu comes in slightly closer (not that it matters when we are talking this close!) The hotel has 357 rooms, a small gym, and all-day dining options. The all-day menu is very limited and didn’t cater well for allergies when we stayed a few years ago, although this may be better now. The rooms are modern and functional as you can see from the photo above, for a premium you can also get a room with a runway view. Are there any other options close by to Stansted Airport?

The next two hotels that are local are technically within walking distance but due to their location, you can’t actually walk and would need to arrange a shuttle bus or taxi. They are the Holiday Inn Express, London Stansted (from £56 or 14,000 IHG points) & the London Stansted Premier Inn (from £39.)

Alternatively, you could stay at the Travelodge at Harlow Town railway station (from £29 a night) and walk a few minutes across the road for the Stansted Express to Stansted. Timed right this would take you approximately 25 minutes and take you directly into the Airport. Whilst perhaps short of the dining options Central London would bring you do have easy access to a Toby Carvery, pubs & various fast food outlets within a 10-minute walk.
