What are 40,000 points worth?

We value an IHG point at 0.4p which means you should be able to get £160 worth of value from the free night voucher.

It’s not necessarily that simple though…

1. IHG has dynamic pricing which means you can’t guarantee the hotel you want you to be 40,000 or under on the night you want to stay. So being flexible with dates/hotel is important if you want to make the most out of the voucher.
   
2. You can’t top-up the voucher with any additional points. The hotel must be 40,000 points or under.
   
3. You have 120 days from the day you receive the free night voucher to use it. This is the STAY deadline rather than the BOOK BY deadline.

Can I profit from this free hotel night deal?

If you need a couple of nights this year and IHG has a suitable option for you this offer would work out to be a nice rebate on your stays. If your two stays cost £160 each you are in effect getting an extra night for ‘free.’

Failing that, if you are able to stay at a local Holiday Inn Express for around £40 a night you could potentially profit from this offer if you need another stay next year. 40,000 points would get you a free hotel night of around £160. This means after 2 x £40 nights you’d be £80 in ‘profit.’ Don’t forget to factor in any time/fuel when taking advantage of this offer as you will need to show up at the hotel! Whilst you don’t necessarily need to stay the night (just mess the room up a little) and leave the key card on the bed it’s not going to be worthwhile if you have to travel out of your way massively.

Conclusion
