Transfer Points between Marriott and Hilton

Have you ever wondered if you transfer your points away from Marriott to Hilton? Perhaps you only stay in a few Marriotts a year or you don’t like the recent changes to the Marriott loyalty program! The good news is you CAN transfer points between Marriott and Hilton. The bad news? It’s very poor value! Read on to find on how!

What value will I get transferring points?

To complete the transfer we need to go Marriott Bonvoy > Virgin Flying Club > Hilton Honors. So if you originally transferred 30,000 Marriott points, you would receive 10,000 Virgin Flying Club (3:1 transfer rate.) Transferred into Hilton Honors points would be 15,000 (2:3 transfer rate.) This in effect is a 2:1 transfer rate from Marriott to Hilton. Not the greatest value… but can be done if you want to!

If the 2:1 transfer rate (taking into account the transfers from each program) doesn’t scare you off this is what you need to do…

  1. If you haven’t already got an account you’ll need to sign up for Virgin Flying Club as they are the intermediary we need to transfer the points.
  2. Login to your Marriott Bonvoy account and head to the ‘Transfer Points to Miles’ page
  3. Choose to transfer your points to Virgin Flying Club. You’ll receive a rate of 3 Marriott Bonvoy Points to every 1 Virgin Flying Club mile.
  4. Once the points arrive in your Virgin Flying Club account you will need to call the Flying Club Helpline to transfer the points across. You can find the contact numbers here –
  5. The minimum number of miles you can transfer is 10,000 and you’ll receive a rate of 3 Hilton Honors points for every 2 Flying Club miles.

Have you thought about transferring your Marriott points to Hilton with the recent changes made to the loyalty program?
