Got An Unused British Airways eVoucher? They Are Being Extended To 30th September 2024

Do you have a unused British Airways eVoucher from during the COVID-19 pandemic? BA has begun to email customers with unused eVouchers to tell them that they have been extended a further 12 months until 30th of September 2024. They were originally due to expire on the 30th of September 2023.

Why have they been extended?

The situation regarding the eVouchers has always been a controversial one with many people thinking that it was the only choice when trying to cancel online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst you could ring up and cancel to get your money back it was near on impossible to get through on the phone. So a large percentage of customers ended up with a voucher rather than their cash back. With this are also customers who willingly took a voucher to help BA survive throughout the pandemic.

On top of this IAG – the parent company of British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus – said that it had €600 million of unused eVouchers on it’s balance sheet. It would be a brutal blow to customers and incredibly bad PR to simply wipe out all those vouchers. Particularly at a time where flying is a lot more expensive then pre-pandemic. Extending them by another year is good PR and potentially good for BA as if passengers loads remain high throughout the summer they will get ‘fresh’ cash in the coffers.

How do I use my British Airways eVoucher?

If you want to use your voucher towards new flights you just need to go through the process of booking flights as you normally would. After you selecting your flights you should be able to enter your eVoucher details before going through to payment.

Can I use my voucher on Avios bookings?

Unfortunately you can’t use your voucher to pay the ‘taxes & fees’ on Avios redemptions.

What about BA Holidays?

Yes you can use your British Airways eVoucher towards a new or existing BA Holiday. Unfortunately this can’t be done online and you need to contact BA.

How do I check how much money is on my British Airways eVoucher?

If you are unsure if you have a voucher, how much is on it or any of the eVoucher details you can enter your email on this page of the BA website – https://www.britishairways.com/travel/ba-remind-me/public/en_gb/remind-me. If you have any vouchers BA will email you with further details regarding them.

Conclusion

It’s obviously good news for many BA customers who have a British Airways eVoucher that they haven’t used yet. Unfortunately it’s too late for those who have already used their voucher, in some instances only to ensure the voucher didn’t get wasted.
