BA Future Travel Vouchers Extended Again

British Airways has again extended the BA Future Travel Vouchers/e-vouchers scheme for those who have accepted an e-voucher or Future Travel Voucher for a cancelled flight (voluntary or involuntary.) The previous deadline of 30 April 2023 has now been moved 5 months to September 2023, a huge 17-month extension to the original deadline of 30th April 2022.

Future Travel Vouchers/e-vouchers – What’s happening?

If you received a Future Travel Voucher/e-voucher when you cancelled your flight or your flight was cancelled you would previously have the expiration date of 30 April 2023. Now British Airways have announced they are extending all previous and future vouchers until 30 September 2023.

Remember if your flight was cancelled you are entitled to a CASH refund you don’t need to accept the voucher. You must RING BA to get a CASH refund.

What’s happening with future bookings & vouchers?

If you book for travel that is to be completed by 31 August 2022 you can at any time before this date claim a voucher for the value of your booking. It doesn’t matter when you make your booking, you can make a booking today and later claim a voucher as long as your travel is due to be completed by 31 August 2022. As above this voucher will be valid until 30 September 2023.

If you want to claim a voucher for your booking you can do so on the British Airways website. This voucher can be used as full or part payment for travel before 30 September 2023.

If you don’t want a voucher and already know where and when you want to travel, you can change your journey date or destination in the Manage My Booking section of the BA website.

You can change your booking as many times as you like without any fees BUT you will need to pay any difference in fare(s).

Conclusion

The further extension of the BA Future Travel Vouchers/e-vouchers is a welcome and sensible move from BA. It does however reaffirm the belief that long-haul travel won’t be returning to ‘normal’ levels in the near future. The ability to redeem any future bookings up to 30 August 2022 for a future voucher with no fees is handy for those who believe travel may resume a little sooner!
