Can I Book Avios Flights For Someone Else?

If you’ve accumulated quite a few Avios over the years you may be wondering if you can book Avios flights for someone else? Maybe you want to treat your family, friends or partner to a trip away without splurging your cash! The good news is that yes you can book Avios flights for someone else… with a few exceptions relating to household accounts!

How Do I Book Avios Flights For Someone Else?

Booking an Avios flight for someone else is as simple as booking one for yourself! Login into your BA executive club and go to ‘book a flight with Avios’. Choose your route, dates etc and proceed to book!

It will ask – Is the payment cardholder travelling on this booking? – for payment of the ‘taxes and fees.’ Simply choose yes or no as relevant. It doesn’t matter whose name the credit card is in! It can be yours, the person flying or completely somebody else!

Fill in the remaining details e.g. passenger name and payment details and book!

You do not need any personal information from the person you are booking for other than their full name from their passport. They don’t need to hand over any details such as their passport number or date of birth! All these details can be added later by the person flying under ‘Manage my booking’.

You can choose which email address receives the flight confirmation details. The account holder will always receive an email letting them know a booking has been made on their account.

How to book Avios flights for someone else when you are part of a Household Account

If you have a Household Account you can only book for someone outside the household you set up when you add them to your family and friends list. Once you’ve done this you can book for them normally. Don’t forget, however, once you add someone to your family and friends list you can’t remove them for 6 months. There is also a limit to how many family and friends you can have. So if you have a household account… choose your family and friends wisely!

Conclusion

As you can see Avios points are a great tool for any flyer to utilise not only for themselves but close family and friends who fly too. By booking someone a flight with points you might encourage them to get started with points! After all, two point collectors are always better than one!
