Linking a UK Amex travel partner account: which name has to match before you transfer
Link the travel account that belongs to you, using the membership number and personal details the partner has on file. Amex UK says the details you submit must match the partner’s records. That matters most after a name change or when several people in the same household have Club memberships.

Check both accounts before linking
Sign in to the airline or hotel programme first. Confirm that the membership number is yours, check the name shown in the profile, and use those records to complete the fields Amex requests. If the partner still has an old name, ask it how to update the record. If the Amex record needs changing, contact Amex. The published instructions say to contact the partner directly about a mismatch. They don’t specify how a middle name, initial or hyphen is treated, so ask before relying on a spelling variation. Use your individual Club number in a BA Household Account
If you share a BA Household Account, use your own British Airways Club membership number on the Amex form. Check that it’s your number by signing in to your own BA Club profile first. Amex UK says Membership Rewards transfers go to an account in your name. Amex UK Membership Rewards FAQs
Allow time for the first link
The quoted transfer time and the time to verify a new link are separate. Amex’s BA Club listing describes the transfer as instant, but it also asks members to allow up to 14 additional days if the account needs verification. Link before you need to book, confirm the number shown in Amex, and check availability again before authorising the transfer. Once transferred, the points can’t go back to Membership Rewards.
