Pre-Arrival COVID Tests & Day 2 PCR tests are scrapped!

As rumoured the Government has scrapped some of the COVID testing requirements for arrivals into the UK which brings us back to where the system was late last year.

What’s changed?

  1. You now no longer need to take a pre-arrival COVID test before travelling to the UK. You’ll still need to fill in the passenger locator form and provide a booking reference for your day 2 test.
  2. Your day 2 test is no longer required to be a PCR test. You no longer need to isolate to you receive the result either. You can take your LFT test and get on with your life. If you get a positive result you will of course be required to isolate with the relevant national guidance.

When do the changes happen?

The rule changes regarding the pre-arrival COVID test and isolation will come into effect from 4am on Friday. The PCR test requirement changing to an LFT test is from 4am on Sunday. Why they can’t be on the same day… who knows…
