Earn Avios With Revolut (In 5 Countries) UK Soon?

You can now earn Avios with Revolut through its new RevPoints loyalty scheme if you live Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Greece or Malta. Whilst not officially confirmed to be launching in the UK yet there is plenty of evidence suggesting that it will soon…

How can I earn Avios with Revolut?

Revolut is rolling out it’s own convertible points currency called RevPoints. RevPoints is a loyalty programme where you can receive, hold and redeem points (also called RevPoints.) These can then be used to redeem for other things. Currently you are able to convert into Avios and Flying Blue points or use them for a discount on a hotel room booked via the Revolut platform.

The main route of earning the RevPoints (convertible into Avios) is via spending on your debit card. The earn rate for this depends on what Revolut plan you are on. Below is the earn rate for the European countries where RevPoints is already live. I would imagine once it launches in the UK the earn rate would be the same just switching out euros for pounds!

  • Free plan – 1 RevPoint per €10 spent
  • Plus (€3.99 per month) – 1 RevPoint per €5 spent
  • Premium (€8.99 per month) – 1 RevPoint per €3 spent
  • Metal (€15.99 per month) – 1 RevPoint per €2 spent
  • Ultra (€45 per month) – 1 RevPoint per €1 spent

1 RevPoint converts into 1 Air Mile (Avios/Flying Blue)

Some transaction types earn double points, and there are also challenges like using Apple Pay, donating, or referring a friend to win an extra amount of points.

Other ways to earn Avios with Revolut include…

  • Earning bonus points by upgrading your Revolut plan and hitting a spend target
  • Completing challenges in the Revolut app
  • Booking hotel stays via Revolut
  • Signing up for RevPoints Spare Change. (Rounding up card transaction to the nearest whole number and swapping the extra cash for points)

Will it make sense to get a Revolut account when it launches?

Potentially…

1 point per £10 spent on the free product isn’t going to get anyone excited so it basically boils down to how much spend you have on debit cards that can’t be put through a more lucrative credit card. It’s possible that you maybe able to earn points on tax bills (and thus would be a good product for some over Curve) but the T&Cs “your purchase must be a genuine purchase of goods or services to be eligible for points.” When it launches in the UK we will see…
