Our Visit To The Amex Lounge Wimbledon

If you are off to watch the Tennis at Wimbledon over the next week or so you may have heard that American Express has a lounge there open to all cardholders. The Amex Lounge Wimbledon is located behind the No. 3 court and is a designated space for cardholders to relax in but is it worth queuing up for? Here is our experience there…

Entry Requirements For The Amex Lounge Wimbledon

To get into the lounge you simply need to be an American Express cardholder (any card) with this you can admit yourself and one guest. If you have multiple American Express cards you can admit further guests, according to one of the staff members.

What freebies are on offer?

Not much! When you are admitted you and your +1 are given a radio, a power bank with cable and some sun cream. If you only want the radio you don’t need to go to the lounge. At Southfields & Wimbledon station as well as various locations around Wimbledon itself are little stands where you can get one.

The Amex Lounge Wimbledon

Whilst the queue wasn’t very big when we arrived you still had to wait around 30 minutes to get into the lounge itself. Once you reach the front of the queue and go inside you’ll collect your freebies as mentioned earlier and go up the stairs to the balcony. Here is an opportunity to get a photo above the outer courts or towards the Centre Court – we’d recommend doing so. You can then scan a QR code to download the photo. After this you are taken inside the lounge where there are two main seating areas: indoors and covered terrace. We didn’t get a chance to sit outside but given the opportunity, we would have.

In The Lounge

Once seated by a staff member you are told you are allowed 45 minutes in the lounge and to view the menu on offer you need to scan the QR code on the table. Unfortunately, you can’t order via this page instead another staff member will come along to take your order. In all fairness this was down promptly after seating and after we had finished our first drink. The lounge was bright and spacious and where there wasn’t distancing between tables there was a plastic screen separating them.

The Food/Drink

Unfortunately, there aren’t any food or drink freebies! The menu was predominately snack-like items and was a similar standard to the food/drink on offer everywhere else. If you are intrigued about what’s on offer you can view the menu here – https://cardmemberlounge.com/resources/CML_Menu.pdf

Is it worth queueing for?

If there is a short queue we would go for it but otherwise no. There aren’t any decent freebies on offer, the menu is limited and of the same quality as everywhere else.

Have you been to the Amex Lounge Wimbledon? If so, what did you think of it?
