BA Amex Premium Plus 10,000 Avios supplementary card bonus: the five conditions and what to ask Amex
Amex will pay 10,000 bonus Avios for your first approved BA Amex Premium Plus supplementary card if you apply between 3 November 2026 and 11:59pm GMT on 12 January 2027, apply through a journey that shows the offer, are approved, and have never received this bonus before. The bonus arrives in two 5,000 instalments and, in rare cases, can take up to 90 days to credit. The terms below come from Amex’s Premium Plus supplementary card page. The page is undated, we retrieved it on 6 November 2026, and Amex says the offer can change or be withdrawn at any time.
The five conditions and who they catch
Amex’s footnote lists four conditions plus a separate exclusion.
- First approved Premium Plus supplementary card. You can apply for several cards, but only the first approved one earns the bonus.
- Application inside the window. This fixes the application date only, so it catches anyone who applies late. See below on approvals that land after 12 January.
- A journey that promotes the offer. The offer must be shown at the moment you submit. Start from the offer page and take a screenshot before you click submit.
- Approval. Amex’s general supplementary card rules on the same page require the supplementary cardholder to be 18 or over with a permanent UK address, and the card must be the same type as your own.
- Never received before. In Amex’s words: “You will not receive this bonus if you have ever received it before.” This catches anyone who has had this bonus before and, possibly, anyone who received a past standard 5,000 (see below).
What the wording leaves open
Amex describes the 10,000 as “the existing 5,000 bonus Avios and an additional 5,000.” That implies a standing 5,000 offer, but the terms don’t say whether a 5,000 bonus you received in the past counts as having “received it before.” Nor do they define “first”: it could mean first ever on the account or first during this offer.
Take someone who applies on 10 January and is approved on 14 January. On the wording, that still meets the application-window condition, but the terms don’t address this case directly, so applying in November or early December makes it unlikely to arise.
Before you apply
If you have supplementary card history, ask Amex in writing how it reads “first” and “received it before” for your account. Add any of these that affect you:

- What releases each 5,000 instalment? No spend requirement appears among the listed conditions.
- From what date do the 90 days run?
- Does an app or phone application count as a journey where the offer is promoted?
- If you withdraw the offer, will you honour applications already submitted?
As the primary Cardmember, you are liable for every pound the supplementary cardholder spends. Their spend does earn Avios into your account and counts towards your Companion Voucher, but 10,000 Avios, valued at your own pence-per-Avios rate, should not be the only reason to take on someone else’s spending.
