Holiday Inn Express Heathrow T4

As me and my partner had a late night arrival into Heathrow T5 we decided to stay overnight in the Holiday Inn Express Heathrow T4. We paid 20,000 IHG points for a double room including breakfast. Alternatively the cash rate was around £75 when booking.

Getting to the Holiday Inn Express Heathrow T4

If you are already in Heathrow T4 just follow the signs for hotels on the departure level. As we landed in Heathrow T5 we went to the bus station and took the 10 minute ride on the 482/490 to Heathrow T4 (Free as you are in the Heathrow Free Travel Zone.) Once inside the terminal on the Departure level we followed the signs for the Holiday Inn Express which leads you down a covered walkway to the hotel. Down the same walkway is the Hilton T4 and the Premier Inn, the Holiday Inn Express Heathrow T4 is the closest hotel however. (Crowne Plaza shares the same building as the Holiday Inn Express)

Holiday Inn Express Heathrow T4

The hotel is very modern and shares the same building as the Crowne Plaza. Each has their own reception area and dining/cafe area however above this each floor is split into 2 roughly. You walk out of the lifts and turn one way for the Crowne Plaza and the other way for the Holiday Inn Express.

We arrived to check in at around 12.30am in the morning in was 2nd in a queue. Noticing this, an available member of staff asked us to come over to another desk he opened up and checked us in.

As we were tired from our journey back once in our room we rung reception and asked for late checkout… we were given until 2pm…for free!

The room

The first thing you notice as you walk in is a sort of cubby hole with iron and ironing board. On the other side of this is a mirror. To the right there is a small space to hang clothing.

As you can see the rooms are modern and new. The bed is a good size (and comfortable) and there plenty of plug sockets (and USB ports) to charge your devices up.

There is also a small table and chair beside the bed, could be quite a squeeze if you need to do any work!

Opposite the bed is the TV and kettle with selection of teas and coffees.

The Bathroom

Again everything is very modern. Space is on the tighter side however nothing that creates any real problems. Toiletries are provided through dispensers.

The shower is OK – whilst modern and clean the water pressure was somewhat lacking compared to most other showers I’ve experienced.

Breakfast

The hotel offers a complimentary buffet breakfast for all guests in it’s ground floor express cafe/bar served from 5AM. It includes things such as cereals, pastries, yogurts, fruit and hot items such as baked beans, bacon, scrambled egg and sausages. For the probably first time in a hotel breakfast buffet I saw they had gluten free sausages available however it turns out they were vegetarian too, not to my taste!

Overall however breakfast was good and there appeared to be ample seating for everyone even with us visiting at a busy time.

Conclusion

I was very impressed with the Holiday Inn Express Heathrow T4. The rooms are modern, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was great. The coinciding with it’s location (a short covered walk from Heathrow T4) means it’s a great option when needing to stay overnight at Heathrow! Rooms are available from around £75 or 20,000 points.
