35% Bonus When Transferring Hotel Points to Avios

If you are signed up to receive emails from British Airways as part of their Executive Club you may have received this email in your inbox this morning. When you transfer your hotel points to Avios (before the end of 2nd December) you will receive a 35% bonus.

The hotel schemes that are receive a 35% bonus when transferring are IHG Rewards Club, Marriott Bonvoy, Radisson Rewards, Shangri-La Golden Circle, Melia Rewards & Best Western Rewards.

Should I should I transfer my hotel points to Avios?

As a rule of thumb no, you shouldn’t! Why? Because they are generally best redeemed for hotel stays in the respective program. The main exception to this would be if you don’t plan to stay in a certain hotel or ever earn enough points to ever stay in one. In which case a 35% bonus when transferring to Avios is probably the best you will see. So if the above is you go for it! But also remember many of the hotel loyalty programs allow you to transfer to multiple other partners (including other Airlines!) Will topping up one of these accounts equal better value for you? You shouldn’t transfer just because there is a bonus. Think about where these points are of most use to you.
