Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Airport

As we had an early flight departing Heathrow T5 we decided to stay overnight locally. Rather than our usual choice of the Ibis Styles at Heathrow we decided to try out the Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Airport located in Hatton Cross, a 5 minute walk from the tube station. We paid around £60 for the night, alternatively we could of paid 27,000 points.

Getting to the Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Airport (Hatton Cross)

The closest tube station is Hatton Cross which is one or two stops away from Heathrow depending on which terminal you want to go to/come from. As you exit the station go right out the doors away from the bus station and then immediately turn left and follow the road. Walking straight down the road within 5 minutes (and several pedestrian crossings) you will see the Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Airport on the left hand side. You can either go up a little further where the zebra crossing is or cross where the fence is down to save a minutes to one of the hotels entrances.

The first I noticed when walking into the hotel was just how HOT it was inside! I stripped down to a t-shirt and still felt like I was on holiday in some sunny resort!

We arrived to check in at around 11pm in the evening and checked in straight away. As Diamond members we were offered 2 waters from the fridge down at reception and a choice between Breakfast or 750 bonus points. We choose breakfast (and was awarded the 750 bonus points anyway!) We were upgraded from a Queen room to a King Room on one of the top floors.

On the ground floor as well as reception you have the bar, restaurant, Costa Coffee, lounge space and Pavillion Pantry.

The Room

As you walk in you have a wardrobe on your right hand side and the bathroom to your right. Inside the wardrobe is your standard iron, ironing board etc.

Further into the room you have the king size bed on the right hand side with a small sofa and table close to the window.

Opposite the bed is the desk with TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge.

The bed was comfortable enough but we both found the small pillows they gave you awful to sleep with. The room stayed unbearably hot even with the air conditioning on the lowest setting, this was a constant feeling throughout the hotel!

The Bathroom

The bathroom was small but workable and had a dual bath tub/shower. The shower water pressure was good but annoyingly it has a fixed shower head. There were Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries provided.

Pavilion Pantry

Located opposite the reception is the Pavilion Pantry, here you can buy an assortment of drinks, snacks and toiletries 24 hours a day! We thought this was great and that more hotels should offer the same!

Breakfast

Breakfast is FREE for Gold & Diamond members who select it as their benefit under their My Way Hotel Benefits. The alternative is 750 Hilton Points per stay. If you don’t hold Gold status or above Breakfast will cost you £14.95 per person unless you include it in your room rate. It’s served from 6am to 10.30am on weekdays and to 11am on weekends.

It includes the normal things such as cereals, pastries, yogurts, fruit and hot items such as baked beans, hash browns, bacon, scrambled egg and sausages. As per usual in Hilton brand hotels all the cooked items except the sausages are Gluten Free! It was good quality however we wouldn’t of paid almost £15 a person for it.

Conclusion

I enjoyed getting the tube to Heathrow rather than hopping on a bus from our normal hotel BUT the hotel was just far too hot for me and my partner. Even with the air conditioning in the room set to minimum we struggled to sleep because of the heat.

If you like it hot… or if you can ignore this… the hotel is very pleasant, clean and modern with facilities such as a bar, restaurant, Costa Coffee and Pavillion Pantry which are great as there is nothing else around the area!

It’s location means it’s easy to get to the Airport via tube (short walk) or Bus (The Hoppa Bus.) I wouldn’t recommend the bus because of the journey length and cost compared to the tube! Rooms are available from around £65 or 27,000 points. Click through here for booking and more information – Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Airport

If this was too hot for you then it sounds pretty much perfect for me! It’s actually quite nice on the inside, the rooms like pretty comfy. Shame about the pillows, I’ve only had one hotel stay where I’ve like the pillows provided. Great write-up!
