Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Broad Street

Even though I lived in Birmingham for 3 years I never got around to going to Cadbury World so when me and partner discussed about going again I decided to book up. Plus we could use the trip as an excuse to go and check out the world’s largest Primark! To make our trip more relaxing we decided to book one night in the Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Broad Street.

Location

The location at first glance may not seem too attractive because the hotel is located on Broad Street, Birmingham’s clubbing strip filled with bars, pubs and restaurants! (with numerous stags and hen dos on a weekend!) Thankfully if you choose a room with a higher floor you are cut off from the noise from the street below. It’s located a 10/15 minute walk from the city centre and Birmingham Grand Central Station. Add an additional 5 minutes if you’re coming from Birmingham Moor Street Station.

Nearby you have a Sainsbury’s Local, restaurants in Brindleyplace, The ICC and Arena Birmingham and of course Birmingham’s canals! Other tourist attractions such as Sealife, Legoland Discovery Centre and the world’s largest Primark are a short walk away. Others such as Cadbury World & Drayton Manor a short public transport trip or car journey away.

The hotel reception is weirdly based on the 3rd floor (a new experience for me!) but it soon made sense why. In the evening they have security on the door to stop any unsavoury or drunk people who shouldn’t be there getting in. The separation from the entrance and reception is quite welcome in this regard!

We arrived too early to check in initially so we dropped off our bags, went to Cadbury World then swung by the desk when we returned to pick up a key card and Diamond benefit of a snack and a drink. We were situated on the 11th floor in one of the corner rooms (I would recommend getting a higher floor in this hotel as mentioned earlier due to potential noise)

Upon arriving in the room my partner asked for a late checkout as she likes to not clock watch in the morning and we was given to 4PM! Which I must admit shocked me for a Hampton by Hilton.

The Room

The room was modern and had all the necessities for a comfortable short stay. I would definitely only say a short stay as the bed was a little too firm for my liking and there isn’t much storage space if you were staying longer.

The slidey bathroom doors doubles up as the wardrobe door inside which you’ll find an ironing board/iron, hairdryer, safe, hanging space and a small chest of drawers.

There’s a TV with kettle with tea/coffee etc below on a small tray

The Bathroom

The bathroom was clean, modern and practical with a shower, no bath. As per normal in a Hampton you have non removable toiletries, these seemed pleasant enough. The shower water pressure was good and I had no complaints here.

Breakfast

I didn’t manage to snap any of the spread as it was far too busy but it was situated off to the left hand side.

The hotel offers complimentary breakfast to all guests from 6am/7am on weekends. Here you’ll find a selection of cereals, pastries, fruit and cooked options such as bacon, sausages and eggs etc! My partner was also very happy they had a waffle maker! For me breakfast is breakfast but according to my partner this was her favourite breakfast spread out of all the Hilton’s we’ve ever been to… high praise indeed!

Conclusion

Overall Hampton By Hilton Birmingham Broad Street is a fantastic option for a one night stopover to visit some of Birmingham’s tourist attractions… The world’s biggest Primark anyone? It’s location means it’s easy to get to the city centre, main train stations and plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants. The rooms are clean and modern and you get a full breakfast thrown in… what more could you want? For more details and booking click through here –
